According to SITE (Union of Manufacturing Industries, Energy and Southern Activities), affiliated with CGTP, "in the plenary sessions held on December 18, 19 and 20, 2024, they analysed the company's responses to the 2025 Demands Booklet, namely the proposal salary adjustment for 2025, meal voucher adjustment, granting of unhealthy, dangerous, arduous and risk benefits, overtime values and negotiation of salary tables, professional careers and progressions, which created great discontent and discomfort among workers".

"The proposal presented by Algar for a 2% salary increase for all workers, the failure to update the meal voucher and the lack of concrete and objective proposals for other CR matters, left Algar workers with no choice but to decide that the path had to be to strike", explains the union in a press release.

The strike will run from 00:00 on the 20th to 24:00 on the 21st of January 2025 and for all overtime work from 00:00 on the 18th to 24:00 on the 21st of January 2025.
