According to the Algarve Tourism Region, obtaining the Save Water seal is also a condition for accessing the Algarve Water Efficiency Support Line, provided by Turismo de Portugal.
“This financing mechanism supports the costs related to the implementation of the required measures,” he says.
In 2024, the Tourist Enterprises adhering to the seal have already demonstrated significant results, registering a 16% reduction in overall water consumption and 15% in specific consumption (per night), compared to the same period in 2023. In addition, there were financial benefits, with average savings of more than 7000 euros per year per project.
The Save Water initiative, coordinated by Turismo do Algarve in partnership with Turismo de Portugal and ADENE – Agência para a Energia continues, according to the coordination, “to be an essential tool in the formulation of water policies and in the promotion of good practices”.
In addition to measuring progress, this monitoring allows us to reinforce the effectiveness of the actions implemented.
