"The OC4 Surfing Challenge is a unique and innovative event, promoted by Ocean Club Ericeira, and marks the first international competition of its kind ever held", highlighted the entity, revealing that, in addition to the two Portuguese teams, teams from Brazil, Spain, the United States, France and Hawaii will participate.
The eight teams will compete in the waves of the World Surfing Reserve for the first international trophy in the OC4 modality, 'outrigger canoes', that is, surfing in Hawaiian canoes with 4 members.
“This will be a moment that will be remembered in the history of the sport, as it will be the first time that OC4 teams from all over the world have come together in a competition of this type", highlighted Miguel Ruivo, one of the representatives of the Portuguese team Laneez Ericeira, one of the two Portuguese teams competing.
The other Brazilian 'squad' is Kahunna Va’a and will face CCP Extreme (Brazil), Mundaka (Spain), Malolo Canoe Surf (United States), Maimiti Va’a and Hossegor (both from France) and Go! Go! Stop! (Hawaii).
The competition has a one-week waiting period, between March 21st and 28th, and will be held on the two days that offer the best conditions, at Praia do Sul, in Ericeira, Mafra.
The OC4 Surfing Challenge is promoted by Ocean Club Ericeira, approved by the Portuguese Canoeing Federation.
