The world´s top professional surfers will compete in the famous barreling waves, led by the Brazilian Italo Ferreira for the men´s division and the American Caitlin Simmers for the women´s division.
Portugal will be represented by Frederico Morais, aka Kikas, and Yolanda Hopkins Sequeira, who were awarded “wild card” invitations to participate in the event.
Expected surf conditions are unfavourable for the first days of the competition, with onshore winds and concurrent swell directions. However, the forecast looks promising towards the final days, with offshore winds and clean swells.
As always, throughout the competition period, pop-up shops and happenings for surf and surf-related culture will be open to the public at Supertubes Beach, and the local surf shops Rip Curl, 58 and Surfer´s Lab will host sessions, parties and movie screenings with past, present and future surf legends.
