“IKEA preowned is the new platform for used IKEA furniture that connects independent sellers and buyers. Here, you can sell and buy second-hand furniture and accessories directly from other people and extend the life of your IKEA products in a simple way,” explains the Swedish giant on its new online page.

Anyone who has second-hand IKEA furniture or other products to sell simply needs to create an ad on the new platform with photographs, a description and the price, which should be set according to its condition. When someone buys the product, the seller must arrange a time and place to make the delivery.

Currently, sellers can receive 100% of the resale price of furniture if they choose to pay via bank transfer. But they can still get 15% more if they use an IKEA Gift Card (i.e. 115%).

There are also advantages for buyers who can purchase lightly used furniture and decoration products at much more affordable prices. For example, a new baby high chair costs 24 euros, but a second-hand one can cost 14 euros.

For now, IKEA is not charging any buyer protection fees. But he warns that this is a limited time offer. “Normally, you only pay 5% of the purchase value of the products to cover buyer protection,” it says on the website.
