Stricter MOT rules from November

Stricter car inspection rules are now in effect, as of yesterday.

Among others, vehicle inspectors will be paying more attention to the kilometres on the vehicle’s clock, lights and polluting emissions. There will be greater control over the periodic checks.

The cleanliness of a car will also be taken into account, since a dirty car may see the vehicle fail its roadworthiness review.

When are they going to start testing motorcyles, they are equally capable of killing both the rider and pedestrians but ate allowed to be ridden regardless of the condition and the noise many of them make with broken or modified exhausts.

As a farmer, my truck spends its entire life in a mud and dusty environment. I won't be cleaning it before the inspection.

I service my car every year, look after it, alright it’s got 115k on the clock, but my car is in better condition and looked after better than some newer cars! Why am i going to be penalised?

Try sorting out the roads.its the roads that are unsafe knocking hell out of a vehicles components.dont see how a dirty interior of a car affects the driving conditions.

Looking at the mileage much closer so HMRC can tot ur mileage up at the end of the year so nobody can claim as much of the 45p upto 10.000 miles ... look out tax return.

I have just bought a diesel car, which I will not be getting rid of anytime soon. This government told us to "go diesel" as these engines were much less damaging to the environment and people. Now we are being penalised for doing so and told to go electric, once everyone is electric, we will be penalised again by new taxation on these vehicles. Get real.

My car is a diesel, 5 years old have passed its mot and now it needs servicing 48k miles on clock.
1 lady owner,bought new,.i pride myself on my car where it is axue hdi emission free in view of electric cars, what about the blind deaf, folk who have no knowledge about these cars on the road, can't hear them coming until youbare satvon the bonnet of said car.

Makes me laugh state of the British roads potholes everywhere yet if my car needs hoovering it won't pass MOT are these irons so bored and overpaid or are they trying to make the illegal immigrants rich in the car wash

If the government want us to drive electric, are they going to compensate us, so we can buy electric ?
Especially as we,ve all spent Millions on vehicles, that we already own.
The State of the roads, are the cause of most of MOT
failures, but they don't repair the roads, out of the extortionate taxes we pay every year ?
Think this is a Scam, to RIP us Motorists off once again, and expect us to put up with it.

Portuguese car prices are 3x higher than the UK. Car insurance is third party only after the vehicle is 8 years old (unless insured full comp at 7 years old, then you can renew).
I still don't understand how us Portuguese people can afford to purchase a nice car. It's pains me to drive my old crappy 2007 BMW which I have on a 10 year finance deal - without full insurance!!! If it gets stolen tomorrow I get zero compensation. I want to move back to the UK where I worked for 9 years and drove a lovely Kia brand new. But now brexit is causing me problems.

The inspection guys will pass anything with a steering wheel as long as the roll of cash is big enough.

At least the sun shines bright and my wife is super fit. My UK friends have rain and overweight pig-like partners!

Hi, I'm trying to get information on MOT's in portugal , we are moving there soon and have been told that my car won't pass their MOT because I have changed the break calipers "not standard" can some tell me if this is the case??
