"Over the next five years, we intend to invest more than €500 million in product, equipment and infrastructure", said Alexander Seitz, after highlighting the importance of the Autoeuropa factory for Volkswagen and for Portugal.

“This factory and its team are prepared to successfully accompany the transformation of the automotive industry”, added Alexander Seitz, assuring that Volkswagen will reorient its production with the objective of leading sustainable mobility worldwide - Volkswagen Accelerate.

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who presided over a ceremony commemorating the 30th anniversary of Autoeuropa, welcomed the new investment announced for the car factory in Palmela and underlined the climate of understanding and collaboration that has always existed in relation to Autoeuropa, between those responsible for Volkswagen and the successive Portuguese governments.
