New, more restrictive measures to clamp down coronavirus come into effect today. Among them, promotional sales and drinks to go are banned, as is circulating between counties between 8pm Friday night and 5am Monday morning, and council mayors have been instructed to order “the closure of all public spaces where people cold agglomerate, namely walkways, boardwalks and beaches”. As a general rule, most shops (excluding the likes of petrol stations, among other exceptions) must close at 8pm on weekdays and at 1pm on weekends.
If your paper could put in a more clear picture of how the portuguese government is helping companies greatly affected by these lockdown measures. Our accountant is saying we dont qualify for government help because we are not directly linked with tourism but our business though its for private enterprises is affected by flight bans. No tourist no one would advertise means no income yet we are obligated by law to pay our employees cause we cant fire them as well. It would be very helpful if we have details of this so called exceptional plan by the portuguese government regarding companies losing their business.
