Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is today to start hearing political parties with parliamentary seats by videoconference on the renewal of the state of emergency. The current period of state of emergency to allow measures to contain covid-19 ends at 23: 59 of Saturday, January 30. Under the state of emergency, the Government imposed a set of measures including compulsory home-working, in force since January 15th. Days later, it determined the replacement of the ban on movement between municipalities on weekends. According to the Constitution, it is up to the head of state to decree a state of emergency, but for that he must listen to the Government and have authorisation from Parliament.
Well, so far the restrictions haven't worked, so more of the same?

Conspiracy theorists worming their way out of the woodwork, and negativity wallowing in defeat. NO GOVERNMENT has done well in this pandemic. Those who have coped better have some of the strictest segregation policies. I don’t like the lockdown, but we need to slow the spread so that our hospitals can cope, and a return to normal life can be mapped. And for those who constantly drip on about ‘sheeple’. You too are one, just in a different herd.
