Portugal to start accepting negative rapid tests on flights to the country

Portugal is to start accepting negative rapid tests on flights into or stopovers in the country.

Previously only passengers with a negative PCR test were allowed in.

This is in accordance with the Government's amendments in the context of the calamity situation.

Rapid tests must be carried out in the 72 or 24 hours before boarding.

Airlines are responsible for checking passengers for their tests.

Too little too late, dumbfounding that they have allowed other EU countries to get ahead of them , at the same time complaining about U.K. recent reversal. Concentrate on your own stuff Portugal gov instead of blaming everyone else. Way too late to react. U.K. bookings have stopped virtually and now you are trying to pedal backwards . Pathetically slow, hopeless!!

The comment "Rapid tests must be carried out in the 72 or 24 hours before boarding." is wrong.
Rapid (Antigen lateral flow) tests 24 hours PCR tests 72 hours.

Do you know which rapid tests will be allowed?

There are many on the market or will the rapid tests be provided by the airlines or the government?

Although these tests provide quick results, they aren’t as accurate as laboratory tests because they require more of the virus in your sample to report a positive result. Rapid tests come with a high risk of giving a false negative result!
