According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), released today, there has been a slight increase in the number of admissions, with a total of 351 people in the wards, nine more compared to Sunday, of which 68 in intensive care, one less than on Sunday.
The deaths occurred in the North (2), Centre (1) and Lisbon (4) regions.
Of the seven deaths, four occurred in people over 80, two between 70 and 79 and one between 40 and 49 years.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 18,000 people have died in Portugal and 1,071,307 cases of infection have been registered.
In the balance since the beginning of the pandemic, the greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years (11,737), followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old (3,855).
Of the total number of fatalities registered, to date, 9,442 in Portugal were men and 8,558 women.
Data released by the DGS also show that 145 cases are active, for a total of 30,222, and that 331 people were reported as having recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, which increases the national total to 1,023,085 recovered.
In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance by the health authorities decreased (down 986), totalling 26,574.
The new coronavirus has already infected in Portugal at least 495,000 men and 575,572 women, according to data from the DGS.
Among the new infections, children between 0 and 9 years old with more than 38 new infections stand out, followed by the group between 30 and 39 years (over 30), 20 and 29 years (over 24), from 50 to 59 (over 22), from 60 to 69 (plus 20) and from 40 to 49 (plus 19).
In people over 80 years old there were 13 new cases, as well as in the age group between 70 and 79 there were, and between 10 and 19 more than 14.
In the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 51 new infections were reported, with 414,201 cases and 7,682 deaths so far in this geographic area.
The Northern region registered 53 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, totalling 410,858 cases of infection and 5,560 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic crisis.
In the Centre region there were 29 more cases, totalling 143,179 infections and 3,150 deaths.
In the Alentejo, 38 new cases of infection were reported, totalling 39,041 infections and 1,028 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Algarve region, today's DGS bulletin counts 11 new cases, accumulating 42,801 infections by SARS-CoV-2 and 466 deaths.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded eight new cases, totalling 12,326 infections and 72 deaths due to the covid-19 disease since March 2020.
In the last 24 hours, and according to DGS, the Azores registered three new cases, which raises to 8,901 infections since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of deaths remains at 42.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
