"SIBS confirms the unavailability that affected operations carried out after 18:15, at Multibanco Automatic Payment Terminals (TPA) and caused instability in Multibanco Automated Teller Machines (CA). All other SIBS services were operating normally", said the company that manages the network.
In a note to Lusa, SIBS adds, without mentioning the causes of the constraints in payments and withdrawals, that "SIBS's technical teams intervened immediately, which allowed the recovery of services from 19:30".
"At this moment, the services are operational, and the SIBS teams remain closely monitoring their operation", they add, also regretting "the inconveniences resulting from this occurrence".
Earlier, SIBS had confirmed "the existence of some constraints in the TPA network", guaranteeing that it was "making every effort to overcome this situation", after several complaints of the impossibility of making withdrawals and payments with Multibanco machines.
For those who are still asleep, consider this a wakeup call.
Increasing government control, increasing digitalisation, other means of non classical warfare , show us how fragile the digital world, it's payment system and the whole economy are. One does not need to be an alarmist or adept of any conspiracy, to know that it is always best o keep some real cash handy and not depend a 100% on plastic.

I agree with the comment and would add that uts also show that's crypto is worthless in a war situation with grids going down.
The only real money is stuff you can put in your pocket and run with.
Good luck trying to buy anything g and saying you are looking for a WiFi connection.

The previous two comments are spot on. Everyone relies totally on a digital system. Look at Canada as an example, disagree with the government and your funds can be frozen in a heartbeat. Don’t think it can’t / won’t happen here. Cash is king!

ALL good comments above. I still get every business account with a paper statement. Uncomfortable with the cyberattack coming to US banks and energy as Putin flexes today. It was on the news that German bank ATM's were struck as well this weekend supposedly from Russia. Crypto is a joke, how gullible can you be? Turn your head and your $ is gone.
