In the note, ML “thanks its customers for their understanding and regrets any inconvenience these strikes may cause”.
The workers of Metropolitano de Lisboa presented a strike notice on 23 February, taking into account the devaluation of the employees' problems by the administration.
“[The strike notice] has to do with working conditions, the lack of staff and the climate on the part of the management in relation to workers, which disturbs the proper functioning”, said Anabela Carvalheira, from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS).
According to Anabela Carvalheira, the unions want the company to “put into practice a series of commitments made to workers a long time ago”.
The trade unionist considers that the administration should take into account the problems that exist, for example, in the area of drivers, who, due to their underground working condition, “should have a calmer life”.
Metropolitano de Lisboa operates across four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Airport-São Sebastião), from 06:30 to 01:00 every day.
