IAVE had already done some “small experiments” in carrying out digital tests but now, through funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), it will move forward with the DAVE- Dematerialization of External Assessment project, which predicts that within three years all compulsory education students take national tests and exams in digital format, a source from IAVE told Lusa.

The model will be tested in June in some schools, which are currently being selected to participate in the pilot project. The sample experience will be with some students who are now taking the assessment tests.

In the next academic year, the assessment tests will already be carried out in digital format by all students in the 2nd, 5th and 8th grades. The only ones that won’t will be are Artistic Expression and Physical Education tests.

According to IAVE, this project is not "a mere transposition of analog and traditional methodologies, didactics and assessment techniques to digital support, but a paradigm shift", which involves "integrating and dematerializing all the procedures inherent to the process of external evaluation of learning, from the organizational and logistical process, to the processes of preparation of tests, their application and classification”.
