"We are better than expected, with the recovery of
traffic and with the income showing a good performance", said the manager,
in a press conference, at TAP's headquarters.
The losses of TAP S.A. decreased in the first half of this
year to €202.1 million, compared to the negative value of €493.1 million in the
same period last year, while in the second quarter the airline registered a
37.2 percent reduction in losses, to a negative result of €80.4 million,
compared to €128.1 million obtained in the same period of the previous year.
"This is something that makes us happy, but we are
aware, the industry was surprised by the recovery. We are cautiously
optimistic", said Christine Ourmières-Widener.
The executive president of the carrier pointed out that a
management "can only be judged by the results it presents". "I
think we are showing good results, [...] I hope that today there is no doubt
that TAP's management is doing a good job", she stressed.
