From today "a gradual change in weather conditions is expected, from the coast to the interior, with the occurrence of heavy precipitation and intense wind”.

According to the notice, “heavy and persistent rainfall is expected between the 12th and 13th of September, with significant accumulation in the northern and central hydrographic basins”.

The authorities expect “rainfall, sometimes heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms” and the possibility of significant water accumulation “in short periods and strong gusts of wind, especially in the regions of the North, Centre and between the districts of Lisbon and Setúbal”.

Despite the forecast of the first heavy rains after the summer, Civil Protection continues to warn of the danger of fires, due to the wind and the dry state of the vegetation, “especially in the interior region of the North and Centre, where the risk of rural fires remains at very high and maximum levels.”
