The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) has alerted the
population to a new fraudulent email that is being sent, claiming to be on its
behalf, asking taxpayers for the correction of the IRS declaration.
“The Tax and Customs Authority is aware that some taxpayers
are receiving e-mails supposedly from the AT, in which they are asked to
address inaccuracies in the IRS statement by clicking on a link”, reads the
statement.
The AT stresses that “these messages are false and should be
ignored”, as they are solely aimed at “convincing the recipient to download
malicious software” so “under no circumstances” should taxpayers carry out this
operation.
This is the first alert of its kind in October, after four
alerts were issued by the AT in September.
