In one of the false emails being sent from a supposed 'VAT Finance Portal', those targeted are 'notified' that a "pending payment associated" with the IRS/IRC declaration has been identified, and are provided with a link to a malicious file that, warns AT, should never be opened.
The false messages that are reaching mobile phones target different subjects - from seizures to debts in the execution of assets - all having in common the indication of an entity, reference and value that only intends to convince recipients to pay a certain amount.
In the security information leaflet, AT advises taxpayers to always be suspicious of links and files sent via electronic messages or SMS, confirm with the source whenever, through electronic SMS messages or websites, any action or interaction is requested and delete messages of unknown origin or questionable content.
