"This revision of economic growth projections will allow us to review our already solid list of measures", said the Minister of Finance, Fernando Medina, in Lisbon, signalling that "even today" the Council of Ministers will carry out this review, adding that the content of this government meeting will be presented to the country by the Prime Minister, António Costa.
Fernando Medina is today presenting the Stability Program (SP) 2023-2027, a document in which the Government revises upwards the growth projection of the Portuguese economy for 2023, compared to the projection presented in the State Budget for 2023 (OE2023), anticipating still a decline in inflation and predicting a deficit of 0.4% - in line with the 2022 figure.
Asked whether he had room to further reduce the deficit in 2023, the Finance Minister said that yes, that "there is [more room]", adding that the Government's option was to provide more support to families instead of further reducing the deficit.
