In the case of Latin America, the airline said in a statement, the increase in supply reaches 17.2%, as this region is “a priority for Iberia” and will therefore see an increase in supply for several destinations.
“Iberia has scheduled a further increase in its operations in Latin America for the summer of 2024, increasing the number of weekly flights in many of the 18 destinations it flies to in 16 Latin American countries. In total, more than 3.1 million seats will be offered during the summer months between the two regions”, highlights the airline, in the information released.
In total, Iberia will carry out 328 flights per week to Latin America, with emphasis on Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Chile and Uruguay.
USA also gains increase in supply
Although the priority is Latin America, Iberia will also increase its number of flights to the USA, with the Spanish airline expected to carry out 126 weekly flights to eight destinations in the country, throughout the summer of 2024.
In total, Iberia will have two daily flights to New York and another two to Miami, and one daily flight to Chicago, Boston and Dallas, with an increase in frequencies to Los Angeles during June, July, August and September, with seven weekly flights, compared to the current five, all operated by the Airbus A350, the largest aircraft in the Iberia fleet.
Next summer, Iberia also plans to resume seasonal flights to Washington DC with four weekly frequencies and three to San Francisco.
At the same time, LEVEL will also begin operating to Miami, connecting Barcelona to this city in the USA with three weekly flights, making Miami the carrier's fifth destination in the country, after Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Boston.
Azores flights
In the case of Ponta Delgada, Iberia says it will offer three weekly flights from Madrid, while Catania will have up to nine weekly flights in August and Dubrovnik will have a maximum of 15 flights per week in August. Zagreb, the Croatian capital, will have a maximum of nine frequencies per week in August and Split will also have nine weekly connections in August.
Iberia will also expand its operations to other destinations to which it usually flies in the summer, such as the Greek islands and the island of Sardinia, with a greater number of flights expected to go to Corfu, Mykonos and Santorini (Greece) and Olbia (Sardinia, Italy) from May to September, while Bergen (Norway) will have flights from May to the beginning of September, instead of just in July and August.
“These operations add to the network of more than 100 destinations to which Iberia flies in Spain and Europe, which further expands travel possibilities for customers in Latin America and Europe”, concludes Iberia in the information released.
More flights? And what about the European climate objectives...?
