According to a press release from the municipality of Lagos, the municipality has been distinguished at the Swiss Tourism Awards 2023, receiving the award for "Destination of Excellence" ,which took place at the 20th edition of the Swiss International Holiday Exhibition, held in Lugano (Switzerland), which brought together more than 400 destinations from all over the world.

The main objective of the Swiss Tourism Awards is to show excellence in different segments of the tourism industry and discover destinations with a strong tourist vocation and that, in addition to the traditional tourist offers, also focus on sustainability and alternative offers and activities. This turned out to be the reason for Lagos to be classified as a "Web2rism Certified Destination" and, therefore, considered suitable for nomination for the Swiss Tourism Awards, marking its presence at this international tourism fair.

Taking into account the rigorous criteria for analysis and certification of the destinations present at the fair and candidates (in categories involving destinations, but also tour operators and hoteliers), the municipality of Lagos ended up being one of the distinguished in the "Destinations of Excellence" category, taking into account the beauty of its beaches and coast, authentic environment and commitment to tourism sustainability strategies.

It is our determination to work to promote the quality and well-being of our community, continuing to share the beauty, culture and hospitality that characterise us, both with local residents and visitors to the county.

By receiving this award on behalf of the municipality, we see it as a recognition of the quality and relevance of Lagos as a tourist destination, for which we express our gratitude to all those who have contributed to this success.
