Approximately two-thirds of Portuguese people (64%) believe that AI is a useful tool for companies' creative work, while 34% are skeptical about replacing human creativity, concludes the study.

Of the 400 respondents, 96% said they knew what AI was all about, while 91% believed that the technology would help in a possible industrial revolution, says the same source.

Quoted by the newspaper ECO, Marisa Valente states that various surveys on the topic show that 55% of respondents have a vague idea about what AI is.

The same media outlet states that the Portuguese use AI in mobile phone applications related to everyday life, in particular, tools such as facial recognition and images, chatbots and product recommendations. The studies also indicate that the Portuguese could consider using artificial intelligence to be seen by a doctor or believe that the future of education depends on this tool.

The Portuguese point out the biggest advantages of AI as better/faster access to information, and an improvement in health as well as safety. Almost 60% of respondents also believe that Artificial Intelligence can be a useful tool for saving time on certain everyday tasks.

However, the Portuguese are aware of some problems associated with the use of Artificial Intelligence, such as the manipulation of information, the use of data resulting from some invasion of privacy, as well as greater ease in committing computer crimes.

Even though the Portuguese can find positivity in AI, ECO reveals that the majority of respondents believe that the use of the tool should be regulated, creating regulatory bodies, as well as greater transparency regarding the origin of products made using AI. 37% of respondents feel threatened by Artificial Intelligence.
