According to the official CIVISA website, one of the events occurred at 6:15 pm local time (7:15 pm in Lisbon) and had a magnitude of 2.1 and an epicenter approximately two kilometres east of Serreta, in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo. It was felt with maximum intensity III on the Modified Mercalli scale in the parish of Serreta.
The second earthquake felt occurred at 6:34 pm local time, with its epicenter approximately three kilometers southeast of Serreta, reaching a magnitude of 2.4.
According to the information, the earthquake was felt with maximum intensity III/IV on the Modified Mercalli scale in the parish of Doze Ribeiras (municipality of Angra do Heroísmo).
A third event was recorded at 9:44 pm local time with magnitude 2.0 on the Richter scale and epicenter approximately one kilometer east of Serreta.
The shock was felt with maximum intensity III on the Modified Mercalli scale in the parishes of Serreta and Doze Ribeiras.
Two earthquakes had already been felt during Tuesday afternoon on the Azorean island, with magnitudes 3.0 and 2.1.
CIVISA explains that the events are part of the seismovolcanic crisis ongoing in Terceira since June 2022.
