The project represents an investment of €20 million by the Vila Galé hotel group, and is expected to open to the public in 2025.
Cited by Lusa, the Vila Galé group said that "the hotel's construction area" will be the "main source of recruitment" for 42 direct jobs.
The Castle of Curutêlo also referred to as the Castle of Corutêlo and the Palace of Curutêlo, is located in the parish of Ardegão, Freixo e Mato, in Ponte de Lima (Viana do Castelo), and was acquired in 2022.
The new tourism project, “developed in partnership with businessman António Parente, from the Madre group”, envisages the creation of a hotel, wine tourism and the production of green wines.
“Vila Galé Collection Paço do Curutêlo will be a unit with 69 rooms, outdoor swimming pools for adults and children, 'satsanga spa & wellness', an event hall for 600 people, two restaurants, a library, chapel and a museum space dedicated to the history of the location, as well as a winery and vineyard”, said the regional operations director of the Vila Galé group, Carlos Alves.
According to the group responsible for the North and Center of the country, the tourist project covers an area of 57 hectares and is scheduled to open in April 2025, and the first wine produced on the property will be launched this year, on April 25th.
