Ryanair will receive fewer Boeing planes than it had ordered, which according to the airline's CEO will create constraints on operations in the summer and lead to an increase of between 5% and 10% in prices.
The company led by Michael O’Leary was expected to receive 57 Boeing Max 8200s by the end of April. The CEO said this Monday, cited by Reuters, that he is “reasonably confident” that he will receive only 40 to 45 by the end of June.
The official said that he would pass on some of the costs of this delay in the delivery of aircraft to consumers, with increases of between 5% and 10% in ticket prices for the summer. Furthermore, average fares could increase by between 10 and 15 euros over the next five years.
In a response sent to Reuters, Boeing confirmed that it has told some airlines that deliveries could be delayed, with the company taking steps to ensure the planes meet all regulatory requirements.
