The contract for the concession of the Bragança/Vila Real/Viseu/Cascais/Portimão regular air transport service ended on February 28, but, last week, an official source from the office of the Assistant Secretary of State and Infrastructure told Lusa agency that the government and the company that provides the service, Sevenair, “found a transitional contractual solution that ensures that the air connection is not interrupted”.
The company announced, through social media, that it will not suspend passenger transport on its air connection between Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Cascais and Portimão, however, it announced that a new timetable will be available until June 7th.
According to the Sevenair group, in this new schedule, flights on Monday and Friday are made on all stops, on Tuesdays and Thursdays flights are direct between Bragança and Cascais and on Saturdays there is no stopover in Vila Real.
There are no flights on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Until now, flights were made regularly between Bragança and Portimão, with stops in Vila Real, Viseu and Cascais.
This is a disaster. Are decision makers so short sighted?? These flights must be supported at national and international levels as only effective air connection to / from western Algarve to Cascais / Lisbon and north Portugal.
