Polling stations will be open until 7pm in mainland Portugal and Madeira, while in the Azores they open and close an hour later compared to Lisbon time, due to the time difference.
According to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration (SGMAI), 10,819,122 voters can vote. In total, 230 deputies will be elected, in 22 constituencies - 18 of which are in mainland Portugal and the rest in the Azores, Madeira, Europe and outside Europe, in an electoral event that will cost around 24 million euros .
In these elections, the Setúbal constituency will elect another deputy, a mandate lost by the Viana do Castelo constituency, which lost around 2500 voters.
Therefore, Setúbal gains a mandate, now electing 19 deputies, while Viana do Castelo loses a mandate, now having just five.
18 political forces are running for these anticipated legislative elections, three fewer than in the 2019 and 2022 elections.
The New Right is the only party debuting in this electoral act, joining the PS, Aliança Democrática (PSD/CDS/PPM), Chega, IL, BE, CDU (PCP/PEV), PAN, Livre, Nós, Cidadãos!, Alternative 21 (MPT/Aliança), ADN, PTP, RIR, JPP, Ergue-te, MAS, Volt Portugal and PCTP/MRPP.
In the previous legislative elections, on January 30, 2022, the abstention rate stood at 48.54%, a decrease compared to the 2019 legislative elections, in which the abstention rate reached a record high of 51, 43%.
