Lisbon was the second European city with the most congresses in 2023, according to the ICCA - International Congress and Convention Association ranking. The Portuguese capital hosted 151 congresses, seven more than in 2022. Worldwide, Lisbon comes in third place on this list, after Paris (with five more congresses) and Singapore (with one more).

In the ranking for 2022, Vienna, the capital of Austria, had come in first place, with the city now in fourth position, with 141 congresses.

“This ranking provides valuable information about emerging trends and the most sought-after destinations by conference organizers around the world, so we are very optimistic about demand this year.

“Lisbon has a privileged location, good accessibility, and infrastructure, as well as excellent quality professionals, so we believe that we will continue to be a global reference for organising associative congresses", said the executive director of Lisbon Tourism, Paula Oliveira.
