Paulo Rangel indicated that, since the current executive took office, several issues related to Portuguese schools abroad have been resolved, or are in the process of being resolved.

“There were issues with the Escola Portuguesa de Luanda, which are all resolved or in the process of being resolved. There are issues in Brazil, in São Tomé and Príncipe. Many times they are not even problems, they are points to resolve,” he said.

And he assured: “The issue of the Portuguese language is fundamental, whether in the CPLP or outside the CPLP. We are in direct and permanent contact with the Ministry of Education, which is giving this high priority.”

To demonstrate this Government's commitment to the issue of Portuguese schools abroad, he recalled that these are now the responsibility of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and not the Secretary of State.
