“The Odemira City Council informs that the restriction on bathing that had been in place since Tuesday at Zambujeira do Mar beach has now been lifted”, which can be read in a statement published by this municipality in the district of Beja on its Facebook page.
Despite welcoming the “restoration of normality” on that beach, the local authority stressed that “it will continue to be committed to identifying, together with the competent entities and with the resources at its disposal, the causes that have led to these episodes, in order to resolve them permanently”.
Contacted by Lusa, the mayor of Odemira, Hélder Guerreiro, explained today that the ban on bathing in Zambujeira do Mar “was lifted on Thursday evening”, although it will only have practical effects today.
“We received the results of the water analyses that allowed the ban on bathing to be lifted”, he said, explaining that the red flag was removed, which will allow a normal day at the beach today.
