This unique event will take place on Saturday the 2 and Sunday 3 of November from 10am to 5pm at the Fatacil Showground in Lagoa, with entry being 1€. This event celebrates the start of the gardening year and is dedicated to making beautiful and sustainable Mediterranean gardens with minimum water use.

For the first time, our partner for this event is Câmara Municipal de Lagoa and the organisation would like to thank its President, Sr President Luis Encarnacao, and his team for their support. We look forward to working with them in future years to develop this special event in the gardening calendar.

To celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of MGAP - there will be various displays and available for sale a very distinct selection of plants suitable for Algarve gardens. Including the rarely offered Rosa Banksiae alba plena, Rosa mutabilis and Rosa ´Iceberg. Also available in limited numbers will be good-sized plants of the native winter flowering Clematis cirrhosa. Native plants and seeds from specialised suppliers will be on sale, as well as ornamental and aromatic plants. The Fair will have sales and advice on fruit and garden trees and a wonderful range of succulents for both the garden and containers. This is an opportunity to buy the most suitable plants for your garden and benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced nursery owners, growers, speakers and MGAP members. Once again FELCO sales stand will offer free attention for their tools.


A rich programme of free talks, workshops and demonstrations is in preparation. The keynote presentation on Saturday 2 November is on Natural Swimming Ponds and the first talk will be on “How to get rid of your lawn”. As usual, there will be free advice on how to create and maintain your garden sustainably into the future with the theme of Change your Garden – Change our World.

All stands have cover with a dedicated covered area for talks and workshops. The venue has ample car parking. As usual, it will be possible to pre-order plants from growers for collection during the event. Full details of exhibitors and updates will be available on our website and Facebook page.


At the MGAP Bulb & Plant Sales stand there will be a selection of bulbs suitable for Algarve gardens, with plants from members. Free advice on sustainable gardening and plant identification as well as the popular bookshop. There will be craft stands related to plants and gardening with high-quality botanical art. The popular Plant Créche is for your purchases and then later collection by car.

Refreshments (including vegetarian options and Indian Curries) and bar facilities will be available. There will also be a range of organic products for sale. The organisation asks that to reduce waste, visitors bring their own bags and boxes.
