In a press release it is explained that the objective is to “transform the plans drawn up for the new year into concrete actions, both among professionals in the sector and among.”
And, as “capturing new air routes continues to be a priority” for the region, Turismo do Algarve and Faro Airport will participate together in the Connect Aviation Forum, promoting the Algarve “to airlines, route managers and other relevant partners”.
“This forum provides a strategic platform for networking, promoting the destination and identifying new business opportunities related to the development of new routes to the Algarve,” says the Algarve Tourism press release.
Well I just hope that Faro Airport radically improves its Border Controls and efficiencies. There’s been some horror stories in 2024: 2 hour waits!!!

They must be joking! Faro airport cannot cope with anymore flights if they land in close time slots. Unfortunately I have a Brexshit UK only passport and I fly back & forth to the UK for work! The queues are so bad at security (not all the time, but too many) it’s making my work/flying unattainable, I may need to move back (after 6 years living here). What’s very frustrating and annoying is the lack of passport check booths being open. At the height of summer there have been times where there are 4 personnel on the ‘EU only’ booths and only 2 on the ‘other passports’ this needs to be rectified ASAP

I so agree with both these remarks. It can be a horror story and no hope even for the old - including residents.

All this additional money in landing and passenger taxes, and no additional customs/immigration people. 2 hour lines are common, and this will increase the issue.
Portugal needs to wake up and make travel normal, proper wait times. Elderly and handicapped have to stand for hours, needlessly.
Open more windows or damage your global reputation to new fliers from all over the world.

Brits complaining about airport delays. All art of the Brexit punishment. I travelled in and out of Faro 9 times in 2024 and never had a problem but it is amusing to see the huge line of Brits paying the price. Suck it up I say!
