Speaking to the Lusa agency, commander José Miranda, of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), specified that 85 incidents were recorded in the Porto Metropolitan Area and 47 in Alto Minho.
According to this ANEPC manager, the majority of incidents were flooding (126), tree falls (46) and structure falls (40).
Commander José Miranda also indicated that during that period there were no victims reported, nor any damage to infrastructure.
Regarding the next few hours, the official highlighted that the biggest peak of these adverse weather conditions was until 12 pm and that the forecast “is for improvement”.
“The weather warnings, for the most part, have already ended or are ending. Precipitation should remain, but we no longer have a wind warning, for example”, he highlighted.
Viana do Castelo, Porto and Braga were placed under orange warning today between 6am and 9am today due to heavy precipitation and gusts of wind that could reach 100 kilometers per hour (km/h) in high areas.
The districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém and Évora will remain under yellow warning due to precipitation until 6pm.
Seven coastal districts - Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja and Faro - are under yellow warning until Thursday at 6pm, due to sea unrest.
