In 2002 the St. Patrick's Society of the Algarve was set up to celebrate Ireland's national day and to promote social activities during the year.

Various events like monthly walks, lunches, bowling, putting, etc. have proved very popular over the ensuing years, but the flagship event is the annual Dinner Dance to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
This year the venue is the Penina Hotel and Golf Resort on Friday, the 14th of March, at 7pm.
