The government wants to be able to legally curb travel, check people’s temperatures and requisition people from the public and private sectors to fight the pandemic.
Costa announced over the weekend that measures already in place in parts of northern Portugal will be expanded for at least two weeks to cover around 70 percent of the population.
Please speak to the WHO for advice on what to do, how to act and what vaccines we require to survive this terrible virus.
I pray for the weak and feeble, let's hope they contract the virus and reduce their burden on the world.
By Norman White from UK on 03 Nov 2020, 10:28
Quite right Norman, totally agree
If you are old weak and feeble then it's time to go.stop wasting time trying to keep these people alive.its mother nature's way of controlling the population.
Stop all the lockdowns and restrictions and go back to normal and if it's your time to go then so be it.
If I catch it then I am ready to go as this planet has become a miserable place to live on with to many people out to screw you over.

Just look after the elderly, as they have done very successfully in Sweden. Let everyone else get on with their lives, as freely as we came into this world to be.
By robert morrell from Algarve on 03 Nov 2020, 16:38
Only solution is to build refuge villages, fully isolated, for the elderly and vulnerable and let the residents live there, fully protected, normally. More importantly, the other 80% can also live normally.. It's so obvious! I'm 70 BTW..

I am absolutely appalled at norman and peters comments.where has your humanity gone or have you never had it . What miserable people you are . I'm sure you would have made wonderful fascists seventy five years ago
By Greg Mitchell from Algarve on 03 Nov 2020, 20:31
Peter, how’s that denial strategy working for you?
By Brent from Beiras on 03 Nov 2020, 20:49
let people that normally have to die,die peacefully!!!!! Mother nature knows better!
By Bea from Algarve on 03 Nov 2020, 21:19
Asking WHO for answers, is like asking the devil for good advice. And sacrificing people for the good of humanity? You're a "sick poppy" mister!
By Armando Magalhaes from USA on 03 Nov 2020, 22:56
I was supposed to travel to Lisbon on 8th Nov to renew my citizen card as i was unable to renew or get a positive response from the embassy in UK. To my luck I don't think this will be possible now.
By Ashwin Menezes from UK on 04 Nov 2020, 03:40
There is no reason to enforce any lockdown that is detrimental to the economy when the true statistics of death is very low because many never get tested and already have had the virus. There is not much difference in stats between COVID19 and the other seasonal flu viruses or common illnesses. They don't shutdown economies for those ??

perhaps the mother of these two individuals Norman White and Peter Shepherd, should have not given birth to them. That would cut the population by 2. A good start

Has there been some arrangement made to transport all of these brilliant expats back to their own countries so they can give advice to their own leaders who have handled the pandemic so brilliantly?
By Dijon from Algarve on 04 Nov 2020, 17:18
LOCKDOWN OR NO LOCKDOWN, THE VIRUS CONTINUES COS THERE IS NO HONEST APPROACH TO CURBING IT DOWN IN THIS PORTUGAL. I WAS REFUSED TO ENTER A WORTEN SHOP AT CAIS DE SODRE WHEN THERE WERE ONLY TWO PEOPLE WITH ONE SHOP ATTENDANT. THE IDIOT WAS TRYING A SOCIAL DISTANCE GREATER THAN NECCESSARY BUT IN THE BUSES AND METRO, EVERYBODY IS TOO CLOSE TO COMFORT. SO, TELL ME IF WE ARE REALLY SERIOUS OR JUST MERE IGNORANCE.

Some of the comments on hear are so self absorbed and lacking any compassion, it's absolutely a disgrace. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
By John Banks from Algarve on 04 Nov 2020, 23:02
I agree, old people should die once and for all, we are wasting time and resources with them, let young people lead the way into a better world, old people need to go.

The biggest threat to humans are other humans.

Like they say, youth is wasted on young people. They get to a certain point in their life, and, all of a sudden, they know everything! And their parents have become stupid. When in fact, they don't know themselves yet, and are easily swayed from one opinion to the next. A decade or two later, they realize their parents were't so stupid afterall....but you can't tell them that now....they have to learn it on their own. Unfortunately, some young people won't make it that far, because nature takes it's course, and death is not reserved just for the old.

The way you judge any society is how you look after its weakest members. Some of you need to realise their are people in your family’s in this category and one day it will be you by which time your view will no doubt change
