According to the same source, at 4:30 pm, a fire with two fronts in the area of Dona Maria, in Belas, in the municipality of Sintra, district of Lisbon, continued to mobilise resources.
“These are two very active fronts. They continue to await the arrival of more reinforcements. There was a possibility that one of the fronts would head towards an urban area, but perimeter defences are being made and there are, for now, no dwellings in direct contact with the fire or in danger”, he said.
At 17:00, 176 operatives were fighting this fire, helped by 52 vehicles and an air vehicle.
In Santarém, since the alert at 12:48, bush has been burning in Glória do Ribatejo, Salvaterra de Magos.
There were 138 combat operatives on site, helped by 44 ground assets and one air asset at around 5:00pm, according to the Civil Protection website.
According to the same source, at 4:30 pm, the fire that has been raging since Thursday in Cumeada, Ourém, also in the district of Santarém, “is considered active but is under control”.
“Work is progressing favourably”, with many hot spots due to the large burned area and the size of the fire, “but mostly consolidation works are being carried out”, he said, noting that 688 operational vehicles are on site with 222 vehicles and five air assets.
Two of these air assets are the two planes which arrived from Spain today, which return to their country of origin at dusk, he said.
The Marzagão fire was still active, in Carrazeda de Ansiães, Bragança, “despite the entire fire perimeter being controlled”.
There are 61 vehicles at this location, with 194 operational.
In Vale da Pia, Pombal, in the district of Leiria, the entire fire perimeter is currently undergoing consolidation and aftermath, “despite considering the fire still ongoing as there are several occasional reactivations, derived, once again, from the strong wind and in places of difficult access to land means, allowing only combat on foot”.
The device will remain in place, with around 460 operational staff, 143 vehicles and the support of five air assets.
