More than 60% of workers want a four-day workweek, with
23.9% expressing interest in a 32-hour workweek, even if it means a pay cut,
according to results from “The State of Compensation 2022 -23”, organised by
Coverflex.
More than eight out of 10 Portuguese workers (86%) would
like to see the length of their working week reduced and 62.1%, if given that
option, would like to concentrate the 40-hour working week into four days. The
data from the study on the future of work carried out by Coverflex, a startup
that operates in the area of employee benefits, comes at a time when the
Government is discussing with the social partners the future pilot on the
four-day week that should start in 2023. A proposal that has not been well
received by company representatives.
The survey data – carried out between September 14 and
October 4, 2022, with 1,438 people, mostly between 25 and 34 years old (46.5%),
of which 51.1% were female, in their most of the Lisbon region (41.7%) – also
reveal that 23.9% of workers would be available for a 32-hour workday, instead
of the current 40h, even if this implies a salary reduction. Only 14% of
respondents still prefer the current 40h/five-day model.
How sad and pathetic. No wonder Portugal is so backward compared to most other countries. Imagine asking some random person in some village somewhere in Laos or Lebanon or literally anywhere if they have ever heard of Portugal or they can point to Portugal on a map. Everyone has heard of Italy, France, England, America, etc. and can mention at least some achievements.
Until the Portuguese drop this lazy socialist mindset, they will be outworked by the industrious and tireless Brazilians and Nepalese in their own country, not to mention all the foreigners who come here with a bit of money.
They always complain about the Brazilians, but so far I have yet to meet a lazy Brazilian.

I went to Cascais shopping today...walked into a loja that prints photos...Asked the person working there for help...They just stood there like an idiot and could not move away from their telemovel...Why not make it an 3 day work week...Bravo!
