TAP registered a growth of 30.2% in the number of passengers transported during the first semester, according to a report by ECO. Intercontinental flights registered the highest growth and are already well above the pre-pandemic levels.

“TAP transported a total of 7.58 million passengers in the first half of the year, 30.2% more than in the same period last year,” the airline said in a statement.

The growth was more robust in international flights, with 31.1% more passengers transported, for a total of 2.17 million. TAP highlights the strong growth on routes to Brazil, North America and Africa. The same ones that have aroused the interest of putative privatization candidates. The volume of passengers on international flights is already 14.7% above the first half of 2019, before the pandemic.

TAP also grew on routes to Europe, mainland Portugal and the islands. The airline operator transported 5.41 million passengers, 29.8% more than in the same period last year.
