Spread across nine municipalities, and celebrating its third edition, the music festival is bringing together guitarists from different musical backgrounds to animate the region.
Organized by the promoter De Mi Para Si, the festival will gather guitarists who are experts in different musical areas and genres – blues, flamenco, classical music, jazz, tango, world music and even fingerstyle. In a statement, the organization has said making reference to the essence of the festival that it wants this to be "a differentiating cultural initiative of excellence" and "a way of promoting this territory as a whole.”
This initiative will kick off with a performance by David Silva, in the municipality of Murça, Vila Real district, where he will present his new work “Terra” which combines singing, flamenco dance and flamenco guitar. On the same day, the guitarist Trevor Babajack is also going to be in the spotlight in Carrazeda de Ansiães, Bragança district, performing a mix of sounds which have as a base African roots.
Throughout the month of March, other municipalities of the Douro and Trás-os-Montes as Lamego, Bragança, Sabrosa, Mesão Frio, Peso da Régua, Tabuaço and Vila Pouca de Aguiar will also benefit from the ‘Magos da Guitarra’ talent. To close the festival on the 23 March, Tom Lumen, who is playing for the first time in Portugal, will take over the show.
