The opening marks two important moments for the brand: Firstly because it is the first of several stores that the brand intended to open this year and, secondly, because it is the first supermarket from the Spanish brand to open its doors in the Guarda district.

The new supermarket is located on Avenida de São Miguel and has created 75 new jobs in the locality.

Mercadona has already announced that it intends to open 11 new stores in Portugal this year, in Oliveira de Azeméis, Porto, Coimbra, Guarda, Évora, and Leiria.
