Industry sources told the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) that forecasts indicate that the price of diesel should fall by 3.5 cents per litre and that of petrol should fall by 4.5 cents per litre.
According to the Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG), the average price of a litre of petrol in Portugal last Thursday (August 22) was 1.689 euros, while that of diesel was 1.53 euros.
If these forecasts for next week are confirmed, the average price of diesel should be set at 1.495 euros per litre, while that of 95% petrol should be 1.644 euros per litre.
It should be noted that "these forecasts are made based on the assumption that the extraordinary tax reduction measures implemented by the Government to mitigate the price increase will continue."
