“This year, 12,000 users have already been reminded about incorrect parking, to continue educating them about good parking practices and rules”, highlighted the company, in a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto.

According to the note, it is now mandatory “for users to take a photo of their vehicle parked correctly at the end of the trip”. In fact, last September, “83% of users parked correctly, while 17% did not respect the rules and were detected and sanctioned thanks to the photo taken at the end of the trip”.

“Lime, a global leader in shared electric mobility solutions, is stepping up its efforts to improve the way its electric bikes and scooters are parked in Lisbon. In recent months, the company has completely transitioned from a free-floating model, where users could stop anywhere, to a mandatory parking system in designated locations. To support this transition, Lime implemented innovative initiatives and local collaborations”.

Along these lines, “designated parking areas were established in partnership with local authorities, in strategic locations throughout the city”, which “help to reduce disorderly parking and ensure greater accessibility for everyone, including pedestrians and people with reduced mobility”.

“Following the implementation of these new restrictions, Lime noted that less than 1.4% of Lime bikes and scooters were left in the wrong location”.

In addition, the company also reinforced “its teams with a dedicated patrolling service, whose sole mission is to ensure the correct parking and organisation of Lime vehicles in the city”.

“Patrollers are responsible for repositioning vehicles that may have been knocked over to gain space and avoid the untidy appearance of bicycles and scooters. They also intervene to decongest some parking areas and rebalance fleet availability. During the summer period, from July to September, the patrol team repositioned more than 27,000 vehicles to ensure balanced service accessibility across the city,” he said.

“New technologies were also implemented to improve the way vehicles are parked”, including “advanced geolocation and artificial intelligence tools”, which guide users “to the nearest parking areas”.
