At the press conference after the Council of Ministers, António Leitão Amaro stated that the two temporary installation centres for immigrants and foreign citizens in an illegal situation in the country will be built in Odivelas, in the Lisbon region, and the other in the North in an area yet to be defined.

According to the minister, these two centers will cost €30 million, which will be financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and will have capacity for 300 people.

Leitão Amaro justified these centers with the need for Portugal not to currently have “the capacity to house foreign citizens identified as being in an illegal situation”.
