In this survey, which collected more than 340 responses, 39% of those interviewed chose the end of the rent freeze as the priority measure, a "failed promise by the Government led by Luís Montenegro, despite being included in its electoral program", indicates the ALP, in a statement.

For Luís Menezes Leitão, president of ALP, the rent freeze is an "unsustainable measure", arguing that if the freeze is maintained, "it will have the same result that has been clear to everyone for decades: fewer homes available to live in".

The official clarifies, quoted in a statement, that the owners "do not want to evict elderly people, or tenants they have known for decades", but demand that the State "assume its role once and for all, subsidising tenants who, in fact, need social support in accessing rent".

The ALP is the promoter of a public petition that demands that the Government and parliament end the rent freeze in Portugal, which already has 5,500 signatories.

In this survey, owners also defended measures such as reducing taxation (17% of respondents) and incentives for owners who offer affordable rentals (14%).

Regarding the balance of Luís Montenegro's executive, 40.5% of those interviewed considered that the measures adopted by the AD Government were neutral, 32% classified them as ineffective and 8.6% as very ineffective.
