In a statement, Metro do Porto explains that this interruption is related to the Pink Line (G) project, “in terms of the electrical installations that are already being developed with a view to their completion”.

At issue is the connection of the catenary of the “common trunk” of the network - between Senhora da Hora and Estádio do Dragão - to the new line, which will connect São Bento station to Casa da Música.

“It is essential to interrupt the circulation of the Porto metro from 10 pm on April 12 [Saturday] until 1 pm the following day [Sunday], between Senhora da Hora and Trindade stations”, says the statement.

Metro Porto informs that, during this time period, all lines will be “conditioned”, with the exception of the Yellow (D) line.

According to the company, the technical intervention to connect the electrical power supply system of the metro trains will take place in the Francos region, requiring the operation to be restricted.

To minimize the impact caused by this technical intervention, Metro do Porto adds, there will be an alternative service and transport, a solution prepared in conjunction with the Porto Public Transport Society (STCP).

This operator's articulated buses will run through the areas affected by the cut, with guaranteed stops in Sete Bicas, Viso, Ramalde, Francos, Casa da Música, Carolina Michaelis and Lapa.

The passing frequencies should vary between seven minutes (from 20:30 to 01:30 and from 09:30 to 14:10) and 10 minutes (between 06:00 and 09:25).

Stops at Francos, Ramalde and Viso stations must be spaced 21 minutes apart.

“We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that all customers of this alternative STCP service must validate their Andante tickets on the buses,” warns Metro do Porto.

The company also reminds that it is not possible to transport animals, except assistance dogs, that are not properly accommodated in a container (bag, backpack or other).
