Julia Hammond has organised a fundraising evening where all proceeds will go to non-profit organisation Alerta de Incendio Florestal Association and Sterilise our Stray’s Charity (SOSAA). The fundraising evening will take place on the 26 March at 7pm at Dano’s Sports Bar & Restaurant in Quinta do Lago. The cost of the tickets are €15 per person which is a donation and includes welcome drinks, with the money going directly to both charities.
Following this, those attending will be able to enjoy dinner from Dano’s A La Carte Menu and there will be entertainment from “The Three Buskerteers” who are made up of Julia Hammond, Barbara Leitch and Roger Guppy. They plan to do a mixture of songs in the first half along with two special tribute songs to the two charities and during the second half of the evening they will perform all rock n roll numbers which will make for a fantastic evening.
Alerta was “founded following the extensive fires in 2016, the association’s function is to support the firefighters and provide information to the local community living and working in the Algarve and Lower Alentejo regions of Portugal.” SOSAA “is a charitable organisation whose purpose is the sterilisation of abandoned cats and dogs from the street and cats/dogs belonging to low-income families with sterilisation and education being their main objectives.”
Roger Guppy has been heavily involved with SOSAA, often fostering a dog from them and knew how much donations are needed so he suggested to the band that he would like to help them and include them in the bands next fundraiser event. Additionally, Barbara Leitch is a volunteer for Alerta and a committee member and felt they could also benefit greatly from the event so they agreed to do a joint event in support of both charities.
