Deco assesses 41 of the 46 foods – which include turkey, chicken, horse mackerel, hake, onion, potato, carrot, banana, apple, orange, rice, spaghetti, sugar, milk, cheese or butter –, which since 18 of April are now exempt from VAT, following the tripartite agreement between the Government, distribution and production.
On June 28, Deco's zero VAT basket cost €128.54. A week later, this Wednesday, it cost 127.76 euros. This is a reduction of just 78 cents, or 0.62%. It was the fourth consecutive week of relief in the price of this basket, after, in the week of June 7, it rose by almost one euro.
Tuna, lettuce and cheese among the products with the biggest increases.
Last week, tuna steak in vegetable oil was the product that most rose in price, having recorded an increase of 12% (more 16 cents) compared to the previous week. This is followed by curly lettuce (+10%), packaged sliced cured cheese (+7%), gala apples (+6%), oranges and cauliflower (both +3%), turkey steak and boneless pork loin (both +2%) and broccoli and pork chops (both +1%).
Where? Everything keeps getting way more expensive.
