In a private meeting of the city council executive, the proposal to hold the Web Summit 2023 in the city of Lisbon was approved with votes in favour from the PSD/CDS-PP and PS leadership and votes against from the remaining elected officials, namely PCP, BE , Livre and independent councillors elected by the PS/Livre coalition.
In the previous edition of the event, in 2022, the allocation of financial support by the municipality - that year it was worth 6.3 million euros - was approved with an equal vote by the political forces that make up the municipal executive.
Presented by the councillor for Economy and Innovation, Diogo Moura (CDS-PP), the proposal determines the transfer to ATL of 7,067,864 euros, to “ensure the availability of the spaces necessary to hold the event and Wi-Fi services. Fi/ICT”.
