The event had returned to Dublin for the first time in five years, in response to pent up demand for information about Portuguese property and renewed appetite for the Portuguese lifestyle.
More than 500 people registered to attend the Moving to Portugal Show, which provided free access to a range of experts on the tax, investment, legal, financial and practical aspects of moving from Ireland to Portugal. His Excellency Bernardo Lucena, Ambassador of Portugal to Ireland, opened the proceedings and welcomed participants to the event.
The busy event included a range of seminars led by specialists with extensive experience of making the move to Portugal. The show also involved plentiful opportunities for networking, ensuring attendees could make key connections that will benefit them before, during and after the moving process.
“We were delighted to host such a useful, informative and well-attended show in Dublin, providing an invaluable resource for all those interested in moving from Ireland to Portugal. Over the past ten years, the number of Irish people living in Portugal has shot up by 416% and we expect that figure to keep on rising as appreciation of the Portuguese lifestyle continues to grow,” said Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce
Held at Dublin’s Herbert Park Hotel in Ballsbridge, the Moving to Portugal Show included multiple examples of Irish business talent, including developers, real estate agents, wealth managers, tax specialists and lawyers. All were keen to share their knowledge and experience with attendees.
Gerry Fagan, CEO of DDM and Reserva da Luz and Quinta do Lago CEO Sean Moriarty were among those present at the show. They shared their stories at a special reception following the seminars, revealing insights into their experiences of settling in Portugal and working and running businesses there.
A range of property and lifestyle options were shared with attendees as part of the event. Properties covered numerous locations popular with Irish expats in Portugal, with particular emphasis on the Algarve, as well as Lisbon, Porto and the Portuguese island of Madeira.
The organisers of the Moving to Portugal Show – the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce – were pleased to see such a busy and successful event. General Manager Christina Hippisley comments: “There is clearly significant appetite in Ireland for detailed, accurate information on the legal and financial realities of starting a new life in Portugal. We were pleased to be able to meet that need with our recent Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars in Dublin and are already considering a further event there later this year.”
The next Moving to Portugal Show will take place in London on 17th October 2024. Free places at the event are now available to book online.
