The airline warned that the indefinite work-to-rule action will have a “cumulative and negative impact” on customers, potentially leading to last-minute flight cancellations.
In a statement, Aer Lingus said: “To protect as many services as possible from the industrial action’s impact, we must cancel between 10% and 20% of our flights during the first five days – Wednesday 26th to Sunday 30th June.
“These cancellations will be implemented over the next two days. This step is necessary to safeguard as many services as possible for our customers.”
Additionally, Aer Lingus announced several options for customers affected by the industrial action by the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association.
Customers can change their flights for free, cancel their flights, and claim a refund or a voucher.
Aer Lingus highlighted that the industrial action coincides with the peak holiday season for families.
The airline stated: “We will do everything we can to minimize the impact on customers. However, disruption is inevitable due to this industrial action. We will communicate any changes, delays, or cancellations to affected customers as soon as possible.
“In case of cancellations, we will try to reaccommodate customers quickly and will work with partner airlines and hire additional aircraft if necessary.”
